He is a member of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, representing Seraikella. He is a key leader in the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha party. He currently serves as the Cabinet Minister of Transport, handling crucial infrastructure development, and also oversees the welfare of Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, and Backward Classes.
