She is married to Hemant Soren, the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, and they have two children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kalpana Soren is a member of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) party. Opposition BJP politicians have accused her of leveraging her husband&#8217;s influence to secure land for a firm she owns. He has also expressed concerns about other plots being acquired in his name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kalpana Soren is also up against a stiff task because if the Election Commission disqualifies Hemant Soren in the office of profit case, Kalpana Soren would be regarded as JMM&#8217;s next Chief Ministerial candidate. The complaint is about his alleged breach of election law by extending the mining lease for himself when he was Deputy Chief Minister in 2012.
