1. About Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Scheme
The Government of Tamilnadu has launched a new scheme called Kalaignar Magalir Urimai thittam across the state on september 15th, which is aimed to provide financial assistance to the women from poor families in the state.
• The main objective of launching Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Scheme is to provide financial assistance as a monthly income to the woman beneficiaries from economically poor families in the state
2. Eligibility for Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Scheme
• Applicant should be a Permanent Resident of Tamilnadu state.
• Woman and Transgenders who have completed 21 years of age can apply.
• Annual income of the family should not exceed 2.5 lakh
• Applicant should not hold more than 10 acres of dry land and more than 5 acres of wet land
• Annual electricity consumption of family should not exceed 3600 units
3. Ineligibility for Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Scheme
o Employees of state and central govt are ineligible
o Employees of public sector undertaking, bank employees are also ineligible
o Income taxpayers, professional taxpayers, retired pensioners
o elected representatives of local bodies
o Beneficiaries having luxury four wheelers
4. Benefits of Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Scheme
• Under Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Scheme, Government of Tamil Nadu will provide below mentioned monthly financial assistance to eligible woman of State :-

Yearly assistance of 12000/-
Total 1.06 crore women have been shortlisted for this scheme. This scheme is also extended to unmarried and widowed women in the state.
• The following documents will be required to avail the benefit of Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Scheme :-
o Aadhar Card.
o Ration Card
5. How to apply for Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Scheme
• Eligible Women can visit their nearby ration shop to register
• A family can nominate one woman beneficiary for this scheme
• If a male person is head of the family in ration card, his wife is considered for this scheme.
