Sudha Murty born Sudha Kulkarni is an Indian author, educator and philanthropist; She is serving as Rajya Sabha MP nominated by President Droupadi Murmu, she is the wife of Infosys co-founder N. R. Narayana Murthy, she wrote many books which were later translated into many other Indian languages, she was born on 19 August 1950 to R. H. Kulkarni and Vimala Kulkarni couple at Shiggaon, Haveri district in Karnataka, she has been honoured with Padma Shri (2006) and Padma Bhushan (2023), she has one brother Shrinivas Kulkarni and two sisters Sunanda and Jaishree<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sudha Murty did her B.E in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from B.V.B. College of Engineering & Technology and studied M.E in Computer Science from Indian Institute of Science, Karnataka, she was married to Infosys co-founder N. R. Narayana Murthy, this couple has two children Rohan Murthy and Akshata Murthy (wife of former PM of United Kingdom)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sudha Murthy was hired as the first female development engineer at TELCO (TATA Engineering Locomotive Company) an incident happened before she became this officer one day she saw the advertisement for the vacancies at TELCO in which they mentioned that female candidates were not allowed to apply, by seeing this gender discrimination she wrote a letter to TATA Chairperson about the same after that she got an opportunity at TELCO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

while she was working she met Narayana Murthy through a friend of hers later both fell in love and got married, later in the year 1996 she founded Infosys Foundation a charitable trust for social welfare that supported providing education facilities, healthcare and livelihood development of remote areas in India, this foundation helped in establishing 70000 libraries for schools in India and also built more than 10000 toilets in rural areas surrounding Bangalore. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She wrote many books, and in some of them she shared her real-life experiences Computer Lokadalli (2000), Athirikthe (2007), Yashasvi (2007), Runa (2008), Mahashweta (2002), Dollar Bahu (2013), Three Thousand Stitches (2017) are some of the famous books she wrote. In the year 2019, the Home Ministry cancelled the registration of Infosys Foundation for allegations of violating the rules of receiving foreign funds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
