Karnataka is one of the five South Indian states located on the Latitude: 15.3173\u00b0 N
Longitude: 75.7139\u00b0 E. It is the seventh largest state in India by area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Karnataka state was formed on : 1st November 1956<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let us learn about the state symbols of Karnataka state.

1. State Emblem – Gandaberunda<\/strong>:
\u00a0\u00a0 – Gandaberunda is a two-headed mythical bird with an unimaginable strength.
\u00a0\u00a0 – It is often considered a symbol of Karnataka’s strength and power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The crest depicts the Lion Capital of Ashoka, on a blue circular abacus with a blue frieze carrying sculptures in high relief of a galloping horse on the left, a Dharmachakra in centre, a bull on the right, and the outlines of Dharma chakras on the extreme left and right as part of Sarnath’s Ashoka Pillar. The shield is flanked on either side by red-maned, yellow lion-elephant indicating the auspicious mythological character Gajakesari<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. State Animal – Asian elephant<\/strong>:
   – The Asian elephant<\/strong> or also called Asiatic elephant represents the rich wildlife and biodiversity of Karnataka.
   – Elephants are also culturally significant and play a role in various festivals and religious events of the state. Karnataka has the highest Elephant population in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. State Bird – Indian Roller (Palace Flycatcher):<\/strong>
   – The Indian Roller, also known as “Neelakanta,” is known for its vibrant blue feathers.
   – It symbolizes the diverse avian life in Karnataka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. State Tree – Sandalwood (Santalum album):<\/strong>
   – Sandalwood is highly valued for its fragrant heartwood and is associated with Karnataka’s traditional craftsmanship and incense industry.
   – It reflects the state’s natural resources and cultural heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. State Flower – Lotus (Nelumbo nucifera):<\/strong>
   – The Lotus is a symbol of purity, beauty, wealth, and the promise of new beginnings.

Mango fruit is chosen as the state fruit. Mangoes are grown in various regions of Karnataka, including places like Bagalkot, Belgaum, Bijapur, Chitradurga, and Kolar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
