➤ Anna Bhagya Scheme - Govt to provide 34 RS/Kg for additional 5 Kgs to each household member
1. About Anna Bhagya Scheme
Anna Bhagya Scheme is one of the five public welfare schemes launched in 2023 by the Congress government which aims to provide food security to the impoverished families.
Under this scheme 10 kg of rice is provided to the BPL families at free of cost.
• Karnataka Anna Bhagya Scheme is also one of the pre poll promise of Congress Party which they promised many times to fulfill if they got successful in making Government in Karnataka.
• The main objective behind launching Karnataka Anna Bhagya Scheme is to provide free cost of grains to poor people who are facing difficulty to take care of their daily food needs.
• Karnataka Anna Bhagya Scheme is also called :- Karnataka Free Rice Distribution Scheme" in which free of cost food grains will be given by the Government of Karnataka.
• Under Karnataka Anna Bhagya Scheme, Government of Karnataka promised to provide Free of Cost Rice to people of Karnataka.
• But Karnataka Government faced a set back from the Central Government.
• Central Government of India refused to provide additional quantity to Karnataka Government as demanded to fulfill the people requirements.
• So instead of giving 5 Kg of Additional Rice to eligible people now Karnataka Government will provided the price of Rice under Anna Bhagya Scheme.
• Government of Karnataka now give Rs. 34/- per Kg to all eligible beneficiaries under Karnataka Anna Bhagya Scheme.
• Person belongs to below poverty line are only eligible to get free of cost rice under Karnataka Anna Bhagya Scheme.
• Having a BPL Card is mandatory to avail the benefit of scheme.
• There is no cap on family members, every family member will get the amount of additional 5 Kg rice per month per head.
• Eligible Persons/ Households will have to wait little more to get their amount of 5 Kg Rice under Karnataka Anna Bhagya Scheme/ Karnataka Free Rice Distribution Scheme.
• From 1st of July 2023, every eligible beneficiary will get amount of additional 5 kg of rice under Karnataka Anna Bhagya Scheme along with existing 5 kg rice from central government.
2. Benefits of Anna Bhagya:
The following benefits will be provided to eligible beneficiaries of Karnataka under Karnataka Anna Bhagya Scheme :-
o Each person in family will get 5 kg rice and amount of 34 Rs for additional 5kg rice.
So in total 170 rupees per month plus 5 kg rice is distributed to each family member in state.
o There is no upper cap on family members
3. Eligibility for Anna Bhagya
• Applicant should be a Permanent Resident of Karnataka.
• Applicant should be belong to any of the below mentioned category :-
o Below Poverty Line (BPL).
o Antyodaya Anna Card
4. How to apply for Anna Bhagya scheme
• The following documents will be required to avail the benefit of Karnataka Anna Bhagya Scheme :-
o Residence Proof/ Domicile of Karnataka.
o Aadhar Card.
o BPL Card/ Antyodaya Anna Card.
o Mobile Number.
• There is no need to apply anywhere to avail the benefit of Karnataka Anna Bhagya Scheme.
• Every Person belongs to Below Poverty Line Category is automatically eligible under Karnataka Government's Anna Bhagya Scheme.
• Beneficiary will have to visit their nearest ration shop with his/ her BPL Card to avail the benefit of Karnataka Anna Bhagya Scheme.
